What A Makeup Artist In CT Can Do For You

By Kerri Stout

When nothing special is going on, doing your own makeup is usually good enough. When there is a special occasion like a wedding when you have to be at your very best, it is best to engage a professional. A makeup artist in CT can make you look dazzling. You will work with them to experiment with different shades and looks and you can pick up a thing or two about choosing makeup and application techniques.

One factor that the artist will consider is your hairstyle so they compliment each other. For example, a formal up-do goes with a fairly strong look while for an outdoor, informal event, a soft natural look such as loose waves and sheer, barely there makeup is best. The artist will also ensure that what you are wearing does not clash with your makeup colors. Timing is also important. Go for a more natural, sheer look for day, saving a stronger, more exotic looks for the evening.

There will most likely be a photographer at the event. If the event will be outdoors in the sun, go for lighter colors to make the most of the lighting. If there are fluorescent lights, avoid makeup that is too light as your pictures might come out with light spots on them.If you will be indoors, deeper tones work best.

There are some basic makeup items that the artist will use on you. Get the exact same items for touch ups and to use in future. There will be foundation, concealer and powder to ensure that your skin looks flawlessly smooth and even. These items must match your own skin tone perfectly for the effect to look natural.

A rule of thumb when it comes to makeup is to highlight the eyes or lips but never both. Black or other tones of eye shadow that are not best. Choose light shades instead for a sweet, pretty look. Start with a light color as a base and apply over the entire lid. Then apply a second, darker shade on the upper lid working towards the brow. If you want an effect of deep-set eyes, use a third shade that is even darker, applying it only on the crease of the eyelid. Blend well so that there the lines between the different shades are invisible.

Waterproof mascara is great. It never smudges. To achieve that wide-awake look, curl your eyelashes with a lash curler and use several coats of waterproof mascara. Or choose waterproof mascara that curls, lengthens, thickens and darkens for luscious lashes.

If you opt to play up your eyes, keep the lips simple. Keep them soft with sheer lip gloss or lipstick that is close to the natural color of your lips. A lip liner, which should be well blended so that it is not visible, will ensure that color does not bleed out beyond your lip line. Blush adds a pretty, soft glow. Use a round tip blush brush and place it on the apple of the cheek and blend well towards the temple. If the event allows, jazz things up by adding some body glitter. You can apply shimmer lotion to your shoulders, cleavage and along your arms if your gown is sleeveless or has sheer sleeves.

A makeup artist is a professional at highlighting your best features and downplaying the flaws. They also understand camera lights and angles so they will ensure you look fabulous in photos. One who can come over to your home or event venue would be great. When they are done, you will have the confidence that comes from knowing that you look dazzling.
